Tina Lilienthal - b. 1976, Bonn Germany / Lives and works in London
Since graduating from the Royal College of Art with a MA in Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork and Jewellery in 2003, Tina Lilienthal has already gained an international reputation for her unusual jewellery and has been selected to show her work at a variety of contemporary jewellery exhibition in the UK and abroad such as the 'International Graduation Show' at Galerie Marzee in Holland, 'Jewellery-Unlimited' in Bristol, and 'showCASe: Contemporary Art for the UK', Edinburgh. Her work can also be seen at international trade fairs like ICFF in New York, International Jewellery Tokyo and Ambiente Frankfurt.
Storytelling plays an imporant role in Lilienthal's work, as well as elements of playfulness and humour. This is reflected in her approach to materials, utilising a broad mix of metals, plastics and fabrics, which stand in opposition to conventional jewellery practice. Her collections range from wearable jewellery and fashion jewellery and accessories to bold exhibition pieces which has won Lilienthal acclaim: the 'Burt Brill and Cardens Student Award' 2001, the Marzee Prijs 2003, and first prize for Fashion Jewellery in the Goldsmiths' Craftsmanship and Design Awards 2004.
Her collections are shown in galleries and shops in the UK, Europe, Japan and soon in America.
